TNSSAR Ladies Auxiliary Upcoming Events

Picture
Dear Ladies of the TNSSAR Auxiliary,

Ladies, we had a wonderful weekend at the BoG in Gallatin/Hendersonville Friday and Saturday, June 20-21. Twenty of us met for dinner on Friday night which is always fun. On Saturday we did the opening ritual with the men, then adjourned to our meeting. Our business meeting included ladies purchasing our jewelry, and a discussion about the upcoming Congresses in Connecticut this year and in New Orleans in 2027.

The highlight of the day was Melinda Gaines’s portrayal of Rachel Jackson. It was so very good! I learned more about Rachel in that presentation than I have ever known.

We provided lunch for the men (for a donation!), and it wouldn’t have been possible without Jackie’s beans, Melinda’s slaw, Pam Fulwider’s tea, Mary Ellen’s chips, and Barbara Dickerson’s congo squares (my husband’s favorite!). And it also wouldn’t have been so easy without the help of the whole auxiliary present who pitched in to set up the tables and make the serving lines go so smoothly. Thank you to all, especially the leadership of Beth Hutson and Tracy Diffenderfer!

After paying $200 for the chicken, we made $697 on lunch (the guys were very generous). So, our account should be going up nicely!

Mark your calendars for October 18 for the next BoG which will be in Chattanooga. You can always reference the Events Calendar on the TNSSAR webpage for upcoming dates.

SAR Congress will be happening in July in Connecticut this year, and I will be reporting on that when we return. Pam Fulwider and Mary Ellen Noletti will also be going. There are many grave markings over the summer/fall (again, see the TNSSAR website), and the Gathering at Sycamore Shoals is Sept 20. So, I may see some of you between now and the next BoG!

I hope you are having a great summer and staying healthy! See you soon.

Rebekah Chaffin,
TNSSAR Ladies Auxiliary President

Summer Board of Governors Meeting Announcement
Dear Ladies of the TNSSAR Auxiliary,

We hope you have June 21st on your calendar for the next BOG and Ladies Auxiliary meeting. The meeting is being held at the Northfield Church, 2100 Nashville Pike, Gallatin, TN 37066.

We will start at 9:00am, first with the BOG and their ritual, then we will have a short business meeting, and at 9:30 the main attraction: Rachel Jackson in person! We are excited to learn more about Mrs. Jackson and her life and thank Melinda Gaines in advance for her portrayal.

The Auxiliary is providing lunch ($10) for the BOG at noon or sooner if possible as they have a full afternoon schedule. If you want to help with food, let me know. The guys have a color guard training at 12:30 and a grave marking at 2:00. See the TNSSAR website for more information.

If you are coming on Friday, June 20th, we are meeting for dinner at 6:00 at Demos Restaurant, 161 Indian Lake Blvd, Hendersonville, TN (615-824-9097). That is always a fun get together. Some of us are staying the night at the Quality Inn, 1001 Village Green Crossing, Gallatin, TN, and others are at the Comfort Inn & Suites, 1468-A Tulip Poplar Dr, Gallatin, TN.
We will have the TN earrings for sale, and Maggie has also found us some TN necklaces which are attractive. We will have both for sale at $25 each – a small fundraiser for us. And we always have our TN Auxiliary Pin available for $20.

If you have any questions about the weekend, let us know. It is always fun to see everyone, especially since it only happens every few months! Safe travel and see you soon!

TNSSAR Ladies Auxiliary President

Purpose of the Ladies Auxiliary

The Purpose of the Ladies Auxiliary of the TNSSAR is to maintain a non-profit association of women interested in the patriotic, historical, and educational objectives of the TNSSAR and to support their goals and activities.

Membership is open to female supporters of TNSSAR with the completion of the membership form and payment of dues ($10/year or $100 lifetime). By joining the TNSSAR Ladies Auxiliary, that automatically puts you in the National Ladies Auxiliary.

The goals of the Auxiliary are to stimulate greater interest in and support of the Society, to assist them in the promotion of SAR membership and in furthering the objectives and patriotic activities of the SAR which are declared to be historical, patriotic, and educational.

The Auxiliary seeks to help with the quarterly BOG, the yearly state meeting, and participate in the yearly Congress and twice a year Leadership in Louisville. The Auxiliary also seek ways to raise money to help with the state youth awards.

The Auxiliary meets four times a year when the TNSSAR Board of Governors meets. The National and State Auxiliaries both have beautiful pins you may purchase and wear!

We welcome anyone desiring to join our group of women! For more information, or to receive an application, contact Rebekah Chaffin, President, LA-TNSSAR, (423) 280-0525, ladiesauxiliary@tnssar.org.
